Bonita Racing Stables nestles in the quiet Wiltshire hamlet of Ogbourne
Maizey and is only a few miles from the historic market town of Marlborough. Peter and Natalie Makin have run their training operation from here since 1971.
Peter trains his horses on the Marlborough Downs, on some of the finest gallops in the country. There are two yards at Bonita, which are home to forty or so horses.
Peter and his owners have enjoyed numerous winners in the UK including 5 winners at Royal Ascot. He has also had winners in Ireland, Italy, France and Germany and Hong Kong and enjoyed success in the Breeders Cup USA. Several owners have been here with Peter since he first started and have clocked up their 200th winner at Bonita.
Peter’s philosophy has remained the same throughout the years. “I aim to introduce people who have considered the idea of buying a racehorse to the racing game, giving them a new interest in the bloodstock world. By buying and racing horses in a totally professional manner, I try to give them every chance of turning a pleasurable hobby into a profitable and capital gain”
